It looks like Microsoft is developing a feature that will restore the Taskbar’s app labels.The Taskbar has been overhauled in Windows 11. Despite being a completely redesigned interface with contemporary features, it lacks numerous heritage settings, such as the option to display the app labels rather than icons.
You might use the When taskbar full option to never combine unless the taskbar is full, or the Never option to ungroup and display the app labels on Windows 10 and earlier versions.
According to a brief video shared on Twitter by @thebookisclosed, Microsoft is developing a method to display app labels on the Taskbar, though it’s unclear how the feature will be incorporated into the system. Although the functionality is currently under development and cannot be enabled through the Settings app, it can be accessed with the appropriate system changes.
It’s not just the inability to show labels and never mix apps that’s returning. The ability to display seconds in the Taskbar was also recently brought back by the business, and the most recent Windows 11 preview in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program offers the ability to hide the time and date from the System tray.
The development team did not intend to eliminate many of the older capabilities, according to the corporation. Microsoft chose to release the initial version of Windows 11 with a Taskbar that was still under development because redesigning the Taskbar is a difficult undertaking.
Not only does the revamped Taskbar restore some of the older capabilities, but it also makes room for new ones. For example, the new tablet-optimized design has expanded and collapsed modes.
