- Microsoft Edge s latest version gets Bing Chat AI integration.
- The integration brings a new flyout with access to the chatbot, compose tool, and insights features.
- Version 111 also ships with sidebar and new tab improvements and various fixes.
Microsoft has started to roll out Edge version 111.0.1661.41, which brings Bing Chat AI to the browser along with a number of other enhancements (such as modifications to the tab page, sidebar, and IE mode) to the stable channel for Windows 11, 10, macOS, and Linux.
Despite the fact that the software behemoth frequently upgrades its Edge browser, this edition adds a new feature called Edge Copilot that incorporates the new Bing chatbot right into the browser.
You will see a new Bing (Discover) button in the upper-right corner of the browser after updating to version 111.0.1661.41, which opens a new flyout overlay where you may communicate with the Bing Chat AI.
Three tabs are included in the integration: Chat, Compose, and Insights. You will have the same experience utilizing the chatbot on Bing.com as with TheChattab. You can pose challenging questions, choose between a creative, balanced, or precise response style, and use the broom button to end and start a fresh conversation session.
You can use Microsoft Edge to access the chatbot and other features if you already have access to the new Bing. If not, you’ll need to register and wait for the invitation to use the updated Bing experience.
You may use the new Bing to assist you in creating various content forms using the Composetab. You can describe the specifics of the message’s requirements in the Write about box.
Additionally, you can choose the tone the AI should use when creating the message: professional, informal, enthusiastic, informative, or humorous.
You can define the kind of content you wish to write, including ideas, blog posts, emails, and paragraphs, using the Format option. Even the text’s length can be suggested.
You can examine and edit the content before sending it or publishing it by clicking the Compose draft button after you’ve specified the parameters.
A content-aware feature called TheInsightstab recognizes the context of the page you are viewing and displays pertinent information. This function appears to be more like Bing recommendations than information produced by AI.
Additionally, the sidebar is now more visible thanks to the new auto-hide feature in this version of Microsoft Edge, and you may opt to only see the sidebar when you hover over the Bing (Discovery) button.
Additionally, Microsoft is introducing a new experience to the Edge Enterprise New Tab Page’s Microsoft 365 tab. A larger version of the Microsoft Feed with more productivity-focused information is at the center of the new layout. The productivity cards—which include Important Emails, Recent SharePoint Sites, Upcoming Events, and To Do—are moved to the Microsoft 365 tab’s right-hand side.
Lastly, the business implements a new policy to delete the IE mode data when the browser is closed. The Clear browsing data for Internet Explorer option in the Settings Privacy, search, and services page allows users to adjust this setting as well.
The official release notes for Microsoft Edge detail every change made in this edition. You may always update manually from Settings>About Microsoft Edge (edge://settings/help), but the update will download and install automatically.
