- Windows 11 build 23419 is now rolling out in the Dev Channel.
- The update brings various improvements for Task Manager and Simplified Chinese IME.
- Microsoft is also bringing seconds to the System Tray clock and the new USB4 Settings page.
For devices that are part of the Windows Insider Program’s Dev Channel, Microsoft is currently releasing Windows 11 build 23419. Despite being a modest update, it has several intriguing new features, repairs, and enhancements.
According to the published modifications, Windows 11 build 23419 provides an upgraded version of Task Manager that enables the creation of live kernel memory dumps. A new USB4 hubs and Devices settings page is added to the Settings app to give details about the system’s USB4 capability and any connected suitable peripherals. Furthermore, the Start menu now reads “For you” instead than “Recommended.” You can now display seconds in the system clock, and when connected to a recognized VPN profile, the System Tray displays a glanceable VPN status badge over an active network connection.
Windows 11 build 23419 changes
The Dev Channel’s most recent version of Windows 11 has the following enhancements and new features:
Start menu
The Recommended area of the Start menu has been changed to For you as part of the updates.
System Tray
A new feature from the Taskbar settings page allows you to display the seconds in the clock in the System Tray.
Additionally, a VPN status shield icon will now appear over the network icon, responding to the system accent color to show that the device is connected to a distant network using a recognized VPN profile.
Taskbar search
You will now notice a Bing button in the search bar to launch the chatbot on Microsoft Edge if you have access to the new Bing Chat AI.
Voice Access
The Dev Channel now offers the updated in-app help page that was first released on Windows 11 build 23403 with all the commands and additional information correctly.
Settings app
Build 23419 adds a new USB4 hubs and devices page from the USB page, which gives details on the system’s USB4 capabilities and connected compatible peripherals, as part of the Settings app’s modifications.
The tree of linked USB4 hubs and devices, along with the characteristics and capabilities related to the USB4 domain, can be seen and copied on the new page.
Because the firm is devaluing the legacy tool, several Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) and MSDT Troubleshooters are now being diverted to the troubleshooters found under Settings>System>Troubleshoot.
The Snipping Tool will now launch by default when you press the Print key. This functionality can always be turned off in Settings>Accessibility>Keyboard.
Also, following a Blue Screen of Death, kernel-generated minidumps will now include the Virtual Memory ranges, indicated by a KbCallbackTriageDumpData BugCheck Callback Routine.
Task Manager
You may now create live kernel memory dumps from the Detailstab by right-clicking on the process and choosing the “Create live kernel memory dump file” option in the Task Manager app. This is on top of the user mode processes’ current memory dump. The business claims that the purpose of a kernel live dump is to collect information for troubleshooting an unusual circumstance while preserving system functionality.
In the Task Manager settings, you will also see a new option for live kernel dumps.
Simplified Chinese IME
Additionally, this flight offers cloud and integrated search suggestions for typing common terms in Simplified Chinese for the Simplified Chinese IME.
The cloud suggestion adds the most pertinent term from Bing to the IME candidate window, the business claims. Additionally, the back-end logic has been changed to enable the system to provide better recommendations.
