Here’s how to configure a fingerprint reader on Windows 11 so you can log in with just your finger. Microsoft has decided to call the feature that supports more secure methods of logging in to Windows 11 utilizing biometric and Personal Identification Number (PIN) authentication “Windows Hello.”
This feature enables you to unlock a Windows 11 machine using a more secure and user-friendly authentication mechanism, such as fingerprint, PIN, or facial recognition, in place of a conventional, complicated, and less secure password.
This tutorial will show you how to set up and uninstall Windows Hello on Windows 11 using a fingerprint reader.

As the wizard instructs, touch the fingerprint sensor.
Follow the on-screen instructions to take pictures of your fingerprint from different perspectives.
You should be able to lock your device after completing the instructions, including by using the Windows key + L keyboard shortcut. After that, you can use the fingerprint reader to log in using the finger you configured.
Remove Windows Hello fingerprint recognition
Follow these methods to get rid of Windows 11’s Windows Hello fingerprint:
Open the settings.
Select “Accounts.”
On the Sign-in choices tab, click.
Choose the fingerprint recognition setting from the “Ways to sign in” section.
Press the “Delete” button.
To turn off the Windows Hello fingerprint option, click the Remove button once more.
Verify the password for your Windows 11 account.

You can proceed to sign in with a conventional password once you have finished the procedures. To completely disable Windows Hello on Windows 11, you must follow the same procedures to delete any facial recognition or PIN settings you may have made.
Windows Hello compatible hardware
Many devices, like the Surface Pro 8, Surface Laptop 4, Surface Go 3, and many more, have Windows Hello built in if you wish to log in to Windows 11 using your fingerprint or facial recognition.
For about $161, you may purchase an external accessory for your desktop computer, such as the Logitech BRIO camera, which has a built-in Windows Hello face. An alternative is to purchase a USB fingerprint scanner, such the Benss, which costs around $25 on Amazon. As an alternative, you want to think about the Microsoft Surface Keyboard, which has an integrated fingerprint reader.
