- OneNote app is expected to get support for the Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- The Copilot will bring AI capabilities like text creation and summarization.
- It s unclear when the feature will roll out to OneNote.
Microsoft is in the process of integrating OneNote with its recently revealed Microsoft 365 Copilot AI chatbot. Along with integrating Copilot into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the business also intends to integrate the AI experience into OneNote, a note-taking tool.
The release claims that in order to increase productivity, the Copilot integrates the Large Language Model (LLM) from ChatGPT with information from Microsoft Graphs (notes, calendars, emails, conversations, documents, meetings, and more) and the OneNote app’s features.
As with Bing, the Copilot interface will be located on the right side of the app and will function similarly to other apps. It will have a chat interface where you can ask questions using natural language. Additionally, the AI may appear as a contextual prompt that overlays the app’s canvas.
The OneNote Copilot may assist you in creating, capturing, organizing, and recalling information whenever you need it. With a few natural language prompts, Copilot can organize information, make lists, write plans, produce ideas, and more—just like you would if you were asking someone else.
Additionally, the chatbot may format, rewrite, summarize, and add visual context to text that already exists.
Microsoft briefly demonstrated the Copilot for OneNote function during the Future of Work With AI event in March, but the feature is currently being announced. In the formal release, the corporation did not, however, provide any other details.
The AI chatbot’s release date for OneNote and the other apps has not been disclosed, and Microsoft is only testing Copilot with a small number of Microsoft 365 users at this time. However, with a straightforward Registry change on Windows 11, the feature may be enabled on the most recent preview of Office applications, including Word, Excel, and OneNote.
