Finally, a new shortcut that enables users to paste clipboard items as plain text is being added to Microsoft’s Word application. While most other apps provide a keyboard shortcut for pasting text, the Microsoft Word app has had this feature for a long time, but it was only accessible from the ribbon or context menu.
The keyboard shortcut was never an option, but you may set the program to always paste as plain text. However, Microsoft is currently updating the word processing program to allow users of Windows 11 and 10 to use the Ctrl + Shift + V keyboard shortcut to paste as plain text in Word, according to Jennifer Gentleman of Microsoft. Additionally, the Cmd + Shift + V keyboard shortcut will be available to macOS users.
Currently, customers who are enrolled in Microsoft 365 Home and Business Standard’s Insider preview program can utilize the Plain Text Only keyboard shortcut.
After the Word application has been updated, you can use the mouse or the Ctrl + Ckeyboard shortcut to select and copy text from another document or application. Then, you can use the Ctrl + Shift + Vkeyboard shortcut to paste the text into Word as plain text.
For anyone who spend a lot of time on Microsoft Word, this small upgrade will save a few extra steps.
The Ctrl + Shift + V keyboard shortcut can be added to other apps that don’t support it by using the PowerToys app. Remarkably, Microsoft Word does not support the PowerToys option.
You must be using Microsoft Word version 16.0.15831.20174 or above on Windows 11 or version 16.67.1113.0 or higher on macOS in order to test the new feature.
