For users with local accounts, Windows 11 will soon start displaying alerts to switch to a Microsoft account in the Start menu. Microsoft really wants you to use a Microsoft account in order to display customized advertisements and gather more personal data about you, even if you can set up an installation using a local account.
The Start menu’s user profile menu will display the new notifications. You will soon get an amber badge indication in the profile image icon if you utilize a local account. Four notifications may appear within the menu: Sign in to your Microsoft account, Use Microsoft 365 for free, Keep your account safe, and Access your data from any location.
These alerts will serve as a reminder of the advantages of having an online-connected account, the company claims. There appear to be more strategies to entice customers to use the various goods, though.
Although it’s not a permanent choice, you’ll notice a “Remind me later” option that will take these notifications off the profile menu. Nevertheless, the business is introducing a new “Show account-related notifications” option in the Start settings page, which might be connected to the local account notifications and could permanently turn off these alerts.
